We spent the weekend doing some really nice craftwork. One result is "Eduard". He is a musical soft toy, playing the melody of Germans favorite "good night show" for kids called Das Sandmännchen.

My new chrochet faible

Long, long ago that someone posted in this blog. So I will use the chance to show one character of my new passion: Amigurumi.
The books are really good and easy to understand, even if you are not well grounded in crocheting.
You can make a character in one or two evenings ...
Really nice for the coming autumn- and wintertime!

Christmas Offerings

Merry Christmas!
Here are two little angels I have made for my tree out of fimo.
The plan was to make lots of these for gifts for family and friends but it took me an hour to make each one and I ran out of time, as usual!
I'm really enjoying my current fimo obssession, the thing I have found most challenging with these angels is keeping the lighter colours from getting mucky, I have to scrub my hands and the surface each time I change the colour I am working with! I need to buy some baby wipes as I have read they do the trick.



I had made lots of arms and legs and heads with the plan to make lots of angels, however I soon became bored and decided to see what I could do with these parts. This little angel was the result, I really like her but unfortunatly her little feet got a bit over cooked in the oven! I may try something like this again, with more realistic proportions as this little one has huge hands and feet and very long arms!



Here she is again, nestled on a branch on our tree.

My new Challenge for this week

Origami is my new addiction.
So for this week I will try to make this 3d star.

More Mini Cupcakes

Here are some more fimo cupcakes I have made, infact its the first piece of 'commisioned' craft work I have done! Although that does make it sound fancier than it is!

I made two bracelets for two little girls, and a box for an adult. I really enjoyed doing the adult ones as I have given each cupcake a flavour and decorated them with tiny little pieces of fimo fruit which I really enjoyed making! The fruits are only a few millimeters long so it was very challenging but really satisfying! The box was from the 99p store and I recovered it with some wrapping paper and a ribbon.

Detour – The pictures

As I announced we have been on the Detour exhibition in Berlin yesterday. I honestly must say I expected a bit more. It is a very small exhibition with moleskine-books designed by artists. I think many books shown on flickr are much nicer and more pure.
But we spent a really nice day in Berlin and had a great time with our friends.

Wristlet

The last days I started crocheting patterns, instead of always making the normal single-crochet-stiches.
This one is my first wristle with a simple pattern.

I started with 42 chain stitches plus 1 more.The next chains I started with a single-chrochet-stich followed from a double-chrochet-stich. And then it alternates, one single and one double ... At last I fixed the wristle with a chain single stiches.

They are perfect nice and warm ...

Photocase

One really nice foto-community I like is Photocase. Everybody can send her/his fotos to them and then in between 3-5 days an editor-team of photocase will decide if they accept your picture. Many pictures are really nice. Often with action or an urban style or just another view of something. The pictures must have a printable solution, so you can use every published picture for professional work. You get credits for your pictures they accept and with these credits you can "buy" other pictures. Another way is you can pay a little money for the pictures.

Reclam Notebooks

Blumprodukt have designed the typocal german Reclam-books – all germans know them from school – as a notebook. Now everybody can be an author and get her/his reclam-book. Each notebook will be delivered with its own pencil.

People who love polaroid may like the new idea of the polaroid company: Zink. Zink means zero ink. On this Site you can see how it works. Xiao is a 5 megapixel digital camera with this built-in zero ink printing technology.

Fimo Cupcakes for Laura

For Lauras birthday this weekend I made her a set of miniature cupcakes out of fimo. I really loved doing them and have vowed to use fimo more often... I am sensing fimo christmas gifts comming on!

I want a Freitag!

We should really have a new section called “I want it now daddy!”, if we did one of these Freitag Bags would be top of the list!

I spotted these exciting bags in the London Graphics Centre on Monday, both me and Jon were drawn straight to these fantastically unique bags that have been made completely out of recycled materials. The Fabric is discarded tarpaulin from the side of lorries, instantly giving the bags a used look that you just can’t recreate. The tarp is really thick and obviously waterproof so the quality is second to none, the trimmings are made from old bicycle tyres – another highly durable and quality recycled material, and the straps are reclaimed car seat belts, meaning they have that same smooth comfort of a belt that is designed to gently mould to your shoulder, yet be strong enough to withstand extreme tension.

Putting all those details and environmental credentials aside, each one of these bags is unique and beautifully designed, and make you scream “I want one now!!”. Unfortunately, at around £130 each they have a price tag that ensures that only a fortunate and exclusive few will be receiving them this Christmas!
